  • #1
Howdy everybody, hope y'all all well, i want to get advice since tp link support and forum have huge delay, so hither information technology goes:

I take a cable modem (200mpbs), and i just bought tplink archer c7, i've installed information technology as the instructions say, on the offset 24 hours after i buy it, the speed was Depression, but non extremely irksome, nosotros suffer from disconnection every 5 hours, just now information technology'due south getting worse, the speed is extremely deadening (5mpbs to each pc) and the connection is lost 2 times an hour (disconnected), i have 3 pc connected and 1 phone wireless.

The configuration in the router is:

Nat + nat boost is enabled.
Firmware is up to date.
Qos disabled.
Cables cat 5e (is ok).

What I've done and so far:

1 - Reset.
2 - Disable nat + nat boost.
iii - Enable and disable QoS.

The problems are:

ane - The router keeps disconnected 2 times in an hour.
ii - The speed is extremely slow.
3 - Sometimes the router haves like "peaks" speeds, and sudden the speed is 80mpbs just afterward 10 minutes the speed decreasing to 5mpbs.

I would dear to solve information technology instead of waiting the entire twelvemonth to tplink back up, thanks.

Many cable modems take status displays you can access by typing 192.168.100.1 into a browser -- https://www.howtogeek.com/240575/how-to-read-your-cablevision-modems-diagnostic-page-when-something-goes-wrong/ . Endeavour that.
Brand sure your signals to your cable modem are practiced. It could be your in-house wiring is not providing adept connectivity to your modem.

What do the LEDs on the modem and router do when you lot have a disconnect ?

All the icons are greenish, except the "earth" icon going orange.

I think the signals are ok since the previous router works well, but he was limit to 100mpbs so i had to upgrade.

What model is the modem? I would HIGHLY recommend yous look at the data. Simply maxim that "the old i worked" is no guarantee that the new i is happy. A new modem has new requirements.

The modem is from our cablevision company, i will wait for the model, for now, i follow the link above, and i see too many details what i don't understand them...sorry....just there is menus: "basic", "advanced", "wireless", "mta".

I came beyond this under "stauts > connexion":

Acquire Downstream Channel 219000000 Hz Locked
Connectivity State OK Operational
Kicking State OK Operational
Configuration File OK
Security Enabled BPI+

Read the link I posted well-nigh interpreting the information. The important things are the power level downstream (should be around 0db) -iii to plus six are good. And signal to noise ratio. Effectually 40db or college is ameliorate. Here is another how-to folio -- https://pickmymodem.com/signal-levels-docsis-3-03-1-cable-modem/

Yep. those expect similar decent values. The adjacent affair to bank check is the log the modem has. When the "world" turns orange, that unremarkably means that the modem has lost connection to the ISP.
  • #9
Ok, thank you, i volition look for some other disconnection and mail service the log.

Normally the log has pretty adept history. You lot might encounter something simply reviewing the log y'all currently have.

Are you having these same speed bug wired?
  • #12
Are you having these aforementioned speed issues wired?
Only wired, with wireless information technology's ok...not fast merely ok...

Yes. those await similar decent values. The next thing to cheque is the log the modem has. When the "world" turns orangish, that unremarkably means that the modem has lost connection to the Internet access provider.
In that location was now a asunder, i go to the modem log:

Strange information technology is only happening on wired. If it is a modem problem it should be the same for both.

What happened to your modem signal levels when it got deadening?

  • #16
the modem level is the aforementioned.

The support from tp-link advised to turn the router to access point, i will give it a try, if non they give the option to become new.

But wired, with wireless it's ok...non fast just ok...
If wireless works, so it tin't be a modem event. The modem would be common to both wired and wireless.

All the same a trouble, the RMA can't supervene upon in this time because of the corona virus.

I volition try to convert it to access signal, i volition google and update.
